Google Ads can bring a dental clinic new patients within days. They can also burn through a budget without producing a single appointment. The difference almost always comes down to structure, targeting and tracking.
Structure campaigns by treatment
Create separate campaigns or ad groups for each treatment you want to grow, such as implants, clear aligners, root canal treatment and emergency dentistry. Each should have its own keywords, ads and landing page, so the patient who searched for implants sees an ad and a page about implants.
Choose keywords with intent
Prefer searches that show a clear wish to book, such as "dental implant clinic in Salt Lake" or "emergency dentist near me". Avoid very broad keywords like "teeth" or "dentist" on their own, which attract students, job seekers and people far away.
Exclude what you do not want
Add negative keywords for jobs, courses, colleges, free treatment, home remedies and distant cities. Review the search terms report regularly in the first weeks and keep adding exclusions.
Target the right area and hours
Set a radius or list of localities based on how far your patients realistically travel. Run call focused ads only when someone can answer the phone. A missed call from an ad is wasted money.
Send clicks to a focused page
A treatment landing page should explain the treatment, show your dentists and clinic, address common concerns, give honest cost factors and make it easy to call, WhatsApp or book. Sending ad traffic to a homepage usually lowers results.
Track every enquiry
Set up conversion tracking for calls, WhatsApp clicks and forms before launching. Then ask your front desk to record which new patients came from ads. Only then can you see the true cost per patient.
Follow the policies
Google applies healthcare policies to ad content and does not allow targeting based on sensitive health information. Dental ethics rules also apply. Avoid guaranteed results and misleading prices.
